When I heard about Milk Bath Maternity Sessions, I knew I wanted to photograph one. The creamy, bright white color of the milk makes the flowers ‘pop’. It is so simple, yet incredibly gorgeous and does it in a way that still keeps my clients the focus of the session.
I teamed up with Ashlee at The Munzeshiemer Bed & Breakfast for the location (Ashlee has these GORGEOUS clawfoot tubs at her historic B&B in East Texas). Once I had the location figured out, I posted a model call & found Lisa! She was totally on-board and super excited to try this milk bath maternity session with me. We talked for a bit about what to wear, and we connected on every level about my vision. She actually found the gown on Amazon & I bought it for her to wear! After getting to know her, I envisioned bright and colorful flowers, for her. I had intended to get the flowers at our local florist, but when I went to Costco earlier in the week, I saw these yellow mums and hot pink carnations and knew they 100% fit her personality!
I recently started adding music to my sessions, and for me personally, I’m most creative when Jack Johnson is playing (rainy day preferred, but totally optional). For this session, I put on Jack Johnson Radio, then gently poured in 100% real whole milk, and added a few drops of yummy essential oils (like lavender and rosemary). It was at that moment when the analytical part of my brain subsided and I was left with the creativity of my soul.
Lisa is an East Texas native. She recently got engaged to her fiancé Matt, and together this makes baby number four! Her daughter is seven and Matt has a son, who is five and a daughter, who is four. Matt & Lisa recently got engaged and are planning a classical and elegant style wedding for June!
