I am really lovin’ the look of these milk baths, and haven’t seen a lot of photographers in East Texas doing them. Thankfully Ashlee at the Munzesheimer agreed to let me host a series of them in her Bed & Breakfast. Which was totally awesome because I got to use the claw-foot bathtubs they have at the historic B&B for Bethany’s milk bath session!
When I set out to do a milk bath session, I posted a model call and Bethany was one of the many mammas that responded. It’s interesting, when I met Bethany at the Manor I learned how similar our interests are! She’s really into wholistic medicine and was even doing a Paleo diet for a while (check out Whole30! It’ll change your LIFE!).
Bethany is getting her BA in nutrition and dreams of opening a Nutritional Counseling practice. She struggled after the birth of her first son, Eli, to maintain a healthy weight despite eating squeaky clean. Eventually, Bethany found a wholistic practitioner who helped her get over the hurdle and lose the weight for good. Her goal is to help people in the same way when she finishes her schooling.
It turns out; Bethany even lived close to us in California for a while. Of course, I HAD to ask her what type of Mexican food she liked better, Baja or Tex-Mex (there is a difference!). She said both styles were good, but she preferred Tex-Mex overall… (the one thing we disagreed on!) She super loved living in Southern California, but decided to move back to Lindale, to be close to family when she was pregnant with her first son. Bethany is expecting her second son, Cohen, in March.
(Doesn’t she pick great names?!)
After moving back to East Texas, Bethany started working for Father Heart in Lindale. They are a part of Living Alternatives, an organization to help young pregnant mothers in need. What they do is truly inspirational! The organization has grown from simply giving a free pregnancy test to providing a safe home for the moms. Now, they have multiple locations in East Texas and New Mexico, and are an official adoption agency. While working with Father Heart, Bethany provided 1 on 1 mentoring to the young moms, and was in labor & delivery with them at the birth of their children.
I feel so unbelievably honored to have photographed this amazing woman!
My fave thing about Bethany’s milk bath session is the colors! She has beautiful dark hair and it contrasted so well with the creamy white from the milk. She wore a delicate nude bralette which set everything to perfection! I decided to add just the greens from a bouquet at first, and LOVED it! The light muted tones are definitely my favorite from her session! Even when I added the lavender spider mums it was just enough color without taking away from the feel of it!
