Courtney contaced me very early on in her pregnancy.  She was eager to schedule her maternity session with me, knowing that her second son would arrive early, just like her first.  Minimal symptoms; shortness of breath, and a fast heart-rate sent her to a cardiologist who brushed it off as normal.  This led her into full fledged heart failure at just 33 weeks with her first son, Auggie.  It was a complete shock to her and her husband, Josh.  Not only did she miss a huge chunk of her pregnancy, she wasn’t able to make it to her maternity session date.  Courtney’s heart condition is called Peri Partum Cardiomyopathy, and literally only affects her during pregnancy.

This pregnancy, Courtney knew there was a serious risk for her heart to fail again, and she began preparing early.  We scheduled her session months in advanced, and it was BEAUTIFUL!!

Their session was a photographers dream.  Beautiful family + beautiful golden light… PERFECTO! (you have to say it with your fingers together, like you just ate the most amazing pasta!)  Their son Auggie is adorable, and loved to help me take pictures of his parents (which is how I got those sweet images of him running towards them).  I am completely in love with their session, and some of my favorites are of Auggie’s face just after he give Courtney a kiss <3
